Audience Expectation :

The target audience of the story is people who like basketball, are familiar with the slam dunk manga and animation series and its original plot. 

Setting / Plot :

Slam Dunk centers around Hanamichi Sakuragi, who starts as a delinquent outcast, becoming the leader of a gang. Hanamichi, being very unpopular with girls, has been rejected by them fifty times. Yet, he finds out that Haruko Akagi is the girl of his dreams, and is happy when she's not scared of him like all the other girls he has asked out.

Haruko Akagi, who recognizes Hanamichi's athleticism, introduces him to the Shohoku basketball team. Hanamichi was reluctant to join the team at first because he had no previous background in any sports and thought that basketball was a game for losers (also because the fiftieth girl rejected him for a basketball player). Sakuragi, despite his immaturity and hot temper, proves to be a natural athlete with potential and joins the team in order to impress Haruko and prove that he is worthy of her. Later on, Sakuragi realizes that his love for the sport equals that of his crush on Haruko. Kaede Rukawa — Sakuragi's bitter rival (both on the basketball court and love, even when Rukawa doesn't acknowledge Haruko's crush on him), the star rookie and a "girl magnet" - joins the team at the same time. Hisashi Mitsui, an ex-junior high school MVP, and Ryota Miyagi, a short but fast player, both also rejoin the team and together these four struggle to complete team captain Takenori Akagi's dream of making Shohoku the national champion. Together, these misfits gain publicity and the once little known Shohoku basketball team becomes an all-star contender in Japan.

The story begins after 10 days from the competition. 

Hiruko is reading a letter from Sakuragi. 

“You are middle of the second semester ..... You must be busy with your study..... I am already getting better as I am the king of rehabilitation....."

Hiruko smiles and say "I will wait....Sakuragi..."

The competition was the last competition for Akagi as he is graduate school soon. Akagi and other player who will graduate school stay at class but thinking that they want to play basketball with team mates. Akagi was deciding to go to University instead of pro basketball team. 

"hmm... i cannot concentrate on the class ...."

Mitsui also a graduate student but as he was leader of gang and didnt plays for a long time he need to practice more for election from university. He have one more chance to be selected if he did really well in the winter selection. So he practices shooting more. 

"What did i do for last few years...damn..."

Rukawa was selected to junior national basketball team for Japan. his skill is really good and he grow so fast even in the matches so he was selected to national team but he need to have more stamina for exercise. He decide to not to go USA for basketball team but he will remain Japan for the winning competition for the school. National team could be the opportunity to grow up more skill for him so he will play for national team and his high school. He is having practice with national team now.

"I need to have more stamina....but sleepy....wanna go to rooftop...."   

Miyagi was the on the rooftop and he was reading some books about leadership. He thinks he will be the leader of this team as other members are leaving and he is the oldest member of the team. Usually point guard is the captain in the team as point guard lead team on the floor as well.

“Should I be the scary captain or good captain?!...scary one…hummm…!!”

Sawakita is on the airplane and reading a book about English conversation. His team which was the best in Japan could not win at the competition but still he decided to go to USA. However, he cannot speak English well.

“Can I have a cup of water please…水を下さい ….hm….”

Sakuragi is in the hospital because he got serious injury from the match before with Sannoh industry affiliated high school. Sakuragi also is reading a letter from Hiruko.

“My brother is not concentrating on study but he really want to play basketball. His grade was really falling down after he couldn’t play basketball…. Did you know that Rukawa was selected to junior national basketball team? But I really want to see you playing basketball… it was really cool that you playing basketball and I cannot wait to see you rebounding. I will wait till you come back. I want to do morning practice with you….”

After reading the letter, Sakuragi said “hahaha I am the king of rehabilitation… “

Nurse is talking to him that "Did you know there is Japan player who play in USA. Everybody say he cannot make it but he made it. He is so hansome!! Hahahhahaha…"

Sakuragi said by himself “Too noisy… the hansome monkey…you made it finally…and he said to nurse "but I will be the next person who goes to USA!!”

Nurse said “Can you do that? “

Sakuragi said “Of course because I am Genious!!”

Other members all practice a lot as they want to be the key player for the next winter season competition. They wake up so early and exercise for their stamina because they have seen amazing journey for the competition and they believe that this team is strong enough with good members.

 Another winter season will start. Since Akagi and other graduate members were left, the team is needed to be new. Sakuragi and Rukawa was not there because of injury and national team practice.  

Anzai couch gather everyone and say “here is new member from Korea. He is first year but he was basketball player from elementary school so he is really skilful. Please welcome him.”

Everybody surprised that new member was really big and tall even taller than Akagi. Other members who thought they could be the key player were really down with this but they want to believe that this player is not good enough to play with this team.

 Anzai couch said “the only problem is he cannot speck Japanese well so there will be problem with communication but still he could be the potential player as we need to have good centre.”  

The Korean guy says hi to everybody in Japanese but seems like he does not understand what couch said. Other members smile little bit.

Kigigigiigigigi……(door opening sound)

At that moment, everybody looks toward that sound…… Sakuragi is opening door of gym……and say “I am back!!!!”

It’s about to begin with the new story… with new member….

Shohoku could be good team if they practice with the new guy and communicate well with him but still there are many variables. Sakuragi forget about all skills that he used to have and Rukawa cannot join the practice much because of national team.

However, it will be exciting and interesting new season……
